King of The World

Sadly, yesterday the legend that is Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest. Love him or hate him, you have to respect him for all he achieved: being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, as well as his other achievements that include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career, and the sale of 750 million records worldwide.

He influenced so many bands more than anyone else I can think of (from rock to pop and everything in between), and what I find most interesting is the brand of Michael Jackson and how he had probably the biggest impact on global popular culture as a whole of a personal brand. This is quite fascinating, indeed.

May he R.I.P. and may his music live forever…

Europe Rocks!

I don’t how I can tell you this, especially to my American friends, but I just utterly love living in Europe b/c there’s always so much to see and do – including the cuisine, sports, events, sights, museums, languages, creativity, and the music – it’s bloody amazing! It is like a giant, diverse mixing pot of society; well, that’s the ideals I hold the EU to, though it’s not perfect no thanks to likes of the BNP and Neo-Nazi wankers across Europe…

To that end, about the music: Last night, we watched the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 that was really a spectacular feast for the eyes, which was in Moscow, Russia this year b/c there was voting block by Eastern European countries who voted for Russia to win at last year’s event.

So, this year they “Changes in the voting procedure were made with the re-introduction of a national jury alongside televoting…” for the Final. Here are the top five songs that won:
1) “Fairytale” by Alexander Rybak (Norway)
2) “Is It True?” by Yohanna (Iceland)
3) “Always” by AySel & Arash (Azerbaijan) (I really do NOT like this song b/c it’s so irritating!)
4) “Dum Tek Tek” by Hadise (Turkey)
5) “It’s My Time” by Jade Ewen (United Kingdom) (Don’t ask me why)

I also really loved the interval act of the show a lot as well. It was by Fuerzabruta (Argentinean dance/music/visual experience group) and was so amazing! Check it out (below):


How fab it was, the event was quite a creative piece of magnificence and was visually stunning to view! As an advertising student, having a keen interest in event management too, I’d love to create amazing events like this sometime in the future to like hobby on the side of my advertising career…

So, it was just a utterly brilliant show and I cannot wait for next year’s ESC in Oslo!

I know I’ve been promising to share photos w/ you for ages now and haven’t done so yet, but the thing is Sarah’s always has the camera practically all time. So, every time I need it I have to really have to insist to use it; it is okay though. And I think I’m definite going get myself my own camera soon, especially now that I’m going to start uni in September…

Weekend of Music, Movies, and More…

A couple weeks ago, I have the most fantastic weekend… B/C:

1 – On 11 December, Sarah and me went to go see the Kings on Leon at The O2 Arena. It was it so wicked, and they were totally the dog’s bollocks! They probably one of the only bands that sound exactly same live as they do on their albums, superb, which is a rare quality in bands today. KoL we so good, and they play all my fav song all their albums not just their latest one; I also like the wheelchair seating at The O2 Arena b/c we had a great view of the stage and the entire place, and while they playing “Closer” I looked up at the balcony to the left of the stage that must’ve been at least 50 meters up, and this girl with long blond hair was standing (out of her seat right against the railing) suddenly caught my attention. She was going wild! Her hair was shaking everywhere and she kept touching herself, it was quite interesting indeed that I was glued watching her on the balcony and kept looking to/from her and the stage; I then looked back at the stage for a second and when I looked back the girl wasn’t there. Hopefully, she didn’t jump off the balcony! [-; Also, when I was looking down at the floor and saw one of the bouncers jump into the crowd to run after someone, and then grabbed a guy out of the crowd in a head lock and shoved him against the railing; this guy must’ve been a drunk yob or something b/c then four more bouncers dragged the guy, while he tried to protest, out of the arena. The best part was that two seconds later Kings on Leon then played “Four Kicks” and I laughed under my breath. It was a great night that was slightly dampened by having beer thrown on me three times by some git on the balcony above me: completely daft why someone would want to throw beer into the wheelchair area! But, I still really had an excellent time, and Kings on Leon are the best band whose gig I’ve gone to (that is considering they’re only the second gig I’ve gone to see in my life)… See photos shortly.

2 – On 12 December, Sarah and me went to see The Mighty Boosh Live at Wembley Arena. I really hated the layout Live at Wembley Arena b/c once we got there we found out that there was no assigned seating like at The O2, and upon arrival there were at least four wheelchairs in the “wheelchair cage” already; and we had to sit in the back of the “wheelchair cage” behind a brother and sister that both where in wheelchairs (both were at least 17) who strangely came with their parent. When we arrived the Mum then goes to the Dad, “Oh, it looks like we have to move…” looking at us. Funny, considering that they said they didn’t want come with their kids anyway; well, why did you? I felt like telling them please not to move on our account. Rude wankers! Nevertheless, I had a wicked time, and really enjoyed. I can’t tell you how blood hilarious it was! And 3 – On 13 December, for Saturday Family Night we watched “The Dark Knight” directed by Christopher Nolan, and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Morgan Freeman. Where do I start? Best film of 2008! Full Stop. *** FIVE STARS ***

All in all, that was the best weekend I’ve had in a very long time, actually that week was a really good one! What an amazing weekend, and hopefully I can continue to have more like it!

Foals Gig

On 16 October, Sarah and I went to see Foals at a gig at Carling Academy Brixton (or Brixton Academy as it’s known).

Just found out that Sarah was finally able to get us tickets to the Foals gig at Carling Academy Brixton on 16 October 2008, and I cannot wait… HURRAH!
