On Thursday night (19 February), I went to an advertising talk that’s part of an exhibition that celebrates the work of marketing agency KesselsKramer, which was held at UCA Farnham where I’m starting in September.
The exhibition is really wicked, and was so inspiring… And the talk, the first in a series of three, was so bloody interesting and funny – the speakers talking about their fantastic work, everything from a sex club to corporate America to silly amateur footballers in Europe! How brilliant it was, indeed! And I hope I'm able to attend the other two talks as well…

NCVO Day
On Wednesday (18 February), I attended the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) Annual Conference all day in London.
Luckily, my friend James (who does work experience at the same place as me) came with me too, and we represented our organisation - Trailblazers / the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. After the keynote address by Vince Cable MP (a famous politician from the Liberal Democrats party), James and we decided to the day into spilt 2 workshops each since that I way we could attend a total of 4 workshops during the day, so we’d make the most of the conference.
The 2 workshops I attended were: “AM6: What is the future of campaigning in civil society?” in the morning, and “PM5: Exploring international collaboration” in the afternoon. Both these workshops were really good and highly informative, lots of ideas I can implement with my work experience and with my own organisation I plan to hopefully start one day!
Overall, it was a very unique and interesting experience that I’ll long remember…

2009 RBS 6 Nations Results
Today’s score: Italy 9 – 38 Ireland…

Saturday Family Night
For Saturday Family Night last night, we watched “City of Ember” directed Gil Kenan, and stars Bill Murray, Saoirse Ronan, Harry Treadaway, and Mackenzie Crook.

Today’s game was between last year’s RBS 6 Nations Champions Wales and Scotland. The score was: Wales 26 – 13 Scotland. What a game!

Saturday Family Night
Last night, for Saturday Family Night we watched “Steam Boy” directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, which stars Anna Paquin, Kari Wahlgren, Patrick Stewart, Alfred Molina, and Oliver Cotton.
It sounds like a cheesy ‘80s porn film, but it is actually Japanese animated film of my younger brother’s choice too that Sarah rented from Blockbuster last week. despite this film being in production for ten years, utilising more than 180,000 drawings and 440 CG cuts, I really didn’t like film at all (even though it has a few good visuals). Not like the brilliant “Sky Blue” we watched last Saturday, I just couldn’t wait for this film to be over. *** TWO 1/2 STARS ***

2009 RBS 6 Nations Results
The opening game between England and Italy was, as I said earlier, definitely a cracker! England thrashed Italy 36 – 11 … Hurrah!
The next game yesterday, was between Ireland and France, and it was such a brilliant game… Sadly, ]-: the score ended up 30 -21 w/ Ireland winning. Thankfully, one of my favourite rugby players, Sébastien Chabal (known as “the Caveman” by fans), was playing for France [-; after a long departure from international rugby since France's loss to England in the semi-final of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, which Chabal was visibly distraught from, as they failed to make it to the Final. I love the way he plays, he such a powerful and aggressive player that kicks arse, quite literally!

Today is the first day of the Six Nations Championship (referred to as RBS 6 Nations for sponsorship reasons). Hurrah!

Night at The IMAX
Last night, I went to see the “The Dark Knight” at the BFI IMAX w/ Sarah and my two carers. I really enjoyed watching it again, but it was so bloody cold outside! *** FIVE STARS *** And Heath Leader definitely deserves an Oscar his performance as the Joker in the film…

Sufian’s Birthday
Yesterday, for Saturday Family Night we celebrated Sufian’s birthday, my little bother who is 13. Man, we has all the time gone! As Dad was home for the holidays (since from September he’s been working out in Dubai), we celebrated his birthday on 31 December w/ him, and decided that on Sufian’s official birthday (yesterday) we’d just do something simple.
Anyway, yesterday Mum made her legendary homemade lasagna (as per Sufian’s requested), which somehow she managed to make even tasty than she normally does. It was so heavenly amazing! Need I say any more? After we ate the utterly delicious meal, we watched “Wonderful Days” (that Sarah rented from Blockbuster, which again was of Sufian's choice) – known as “Sky Blue” in Western countries such as the U.S. and Great Britain – a South Korean animated science fiction film written and directed by Kim Moon-saeng. It stars Marc Worden and Cathy Cavadini. I really enjoyed this film so much… The film's animation is amazing (truly guys it’s fab), the music is captivatingly genius, and the plot is very inspiring! Some people have complained that plot is quite “weak,” but have to greatly disagree b/c I found it much easier to follow than some other Anime films (and the plot is no weaker than “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within”), and the Japanese Anime film industry has been around much longer than the Korean. So, comparatively it’s a reasonably excellent film that everyone should definitely watch. *** FOUR 1/2 STARS ***
Well, overall it was just a nice, quiet family time together, and we all had a brilliant time in each other’s company…

Uni Update

I’m still high from all my great news, but being offered places at two great universities was quite difficult to decide which to accept. Here is the breakdown of my uni application so far:
* London College Communication, University of the Arts London = Unconditional Offer
* University of East London = Unsuccessful Offer
* University College Falmouth = Withdrew Application
* University for the Creative Arts at Farnham = Unconditional Offer
Well, my choice (that I selected on UCAS ) is:
University for the Creative Arts at Farnham = ACCEPTED Offer
HURRAH!!! I’m so excited and anxious, but utterly cannot wait to start in September!

Lunch w/ Friends
Earlier today, Sarah and I had lunch w/ Nila and James (who also work at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign HQ in London w/ me) at Belgique. Though sadly, James couldn’t make it, and was greatly missed…
Nevertheless, Sarah, Nila, and me had a very nice time together. We just chatted away and ate lots of Belgique’s tasty treats! But, we had to leave reasonably soon b/c they were closing. All in all, it was still an enjoyable day out, and hopefully I’ll be able to do that more once I get my new wheelchair…

Uni Update
“It's a new dawn,
It's a new day,
It's a new life,
For me…
And I'm feeling good…”
As I mentioned last week, yesterday was my interview for the BA Hons Advertising & Brand Communication course at University for the Creative Arts in Farnham .
I got there about 14:50, 20 minutes late no thanks to the bloody TomTom! But, upon arrival the receptionist at the main entrance was very understanding, and waiting there for a few minutes Mr. P. – the course Senior Lecturer, Head of Creative and Year 1 Co-ordinator – came up to me and said hello; he was the same guy that I met for the UCA Open Day back in October, and I was happy he was the one interviewing me b/c he’s a really entertaining person.
Once we settled into his office around the conference table, he first gave a UCA goodie bag: Inside the bag was rubric’s cube w/ the course, and an apple, a banana and a chocolate. Why? B/c they symbolize the name of the course – Advertising & Brand Communication. Just something fun and quirky for prospective students to take home…
Next, he showed me an approximate 10 minute video (on his MacBook Pro) of a Year 2 student that was quite good, which he asked me questions about. Then I showed him my portfolio, which he seemed to like. Following this, Mr. P. showed me a presentation about the course, but took a while to get through since it had lots of samples of wicked stuff the students do (that he’d majorly upgraded from when last saw it in October b/c he’s constantly bettering the course), which was very interesting. Mainly as Mr. P. is a bloody hilarious and animated lecturer that you become so infixed listening to him, and is very frank swearing and everything saying that real world is unfiltered so his class is unfiltered; and there’s just something about hear him that you know his class would be really good, even my carers enjoyed the presentation. He at that point showed a few videos students had made for clients such as VW, FedEx, and more, et cetera.
Finally, Mr. P. gave feedback about my portfolio: He said that he really like my writing (adding that my personal statement was one of the best he’d seen), however my visuals were not up to par, but said that I might improve if I start uni; though, I did tell him that I did struggle w/ the visuals in my portfolio due to my disability b/c don’t have any physical support until once uni begins. Internally, I was like “okay, let’s see what happens, but don’t you hopes up…” b/c I went into the interview thinking I already have an acceptance from LCC, and if I don’t get accepted at UCA, up yours to them… He then talked for bit more, and as I was about to leave his office, he stands up and right on the spot says, “Well, I’m going to offer you a place on the course…” I almost shat myself! HURRAH!!! I totally wasn't expecting that at all, and after I got home and all day today I have been so happy and practically bouncing off the walls in elation!
I cannot believe I got accepted into two excellent universities in less than a week, and now all I want to do is figure a few things out and make my decision by next Tuesday b/c I take too long deciding the issue gets more complicated than it actually is. I’ll definitely keep you all informed about my decision.
Also, about the other universities I’ve applied to, University of East London (UEL) and University College Falmouth (UCF) in Cornwall 5+ hours away near the ocean, my application was mixed. At UEL my application was “Unsuccessful” there. Why? I don’t really know: WAN*ERS! Well, I didn’t really want to go there anyway, and the only reason I chose it was b/c it was so close to my home. And about my UCF application, they actually invited me for an interview on 29 January for the second stage of their application process. However, 16 January I was finally able to get in touch w/ them to tell them thank you for your invitation, but sadly I would like to cancel my application b/c of the severity of disability and personal circumstances, despite me really loving the uni and the course. It sucks, but it just wasn’t a practical or realistic place for me to study.
That’s about it. Anyway, this is the start of new, very exciting and bloody scary chapter in my life, and I think I’d be happy studying at either uni, LCC or UCA. Hoping for the best! Wish me luck…

Saturday Family Night
Yesterday, as per my younger brother’s wish, for Saturday Family Night we watched “Final Fantasy VII Advent Children” that was directed by Tetsuya Nomura and Takeshi Nozue. Uni Update
Guess what, friends? I just found out that I got accepted in to London College of Communication (formally London College of Printing), part of the University of Arts London, for their BA Honours Creative Advertising Strategy programme w/ an “Unconditional” offer. HURRAH!!! HOW BRILLIANT!
Now I just have to get through the interview on Tuesday at University for the Creative Arts at Farnham for the BA Hons Advertising & Brand Communication programme. Wish me luck!

A Year Remembered…
Well, it’s the end of the year already! Where has the time gone?
This year has been filled w/ lots of highs and lows, very low lows and very high highs, for me. The first half of the year was really bad b/c of being in the hospital with pneumonia and all, but the second half of the year was so fab. Let’s hope the goodness continues!

Weekend of Music, Movies, and More…
A couple weeks ago, I have the most fantastic weekend… B/C:
1 – On 11 December, Sarah and me went to go see the Kings on Leon at The O2 Arena. It was it so wicked, and they were totally the dog’s bollocks! They probably one of the only bands that sound exactly same live as they do on their albums, superb, which is a rare quality in bands today. KoL we so good, and they play all my fav song all their albums not just their latest one; I also like the wheelchair seating at The O2 Arena b/c we had a great view of the stage and the entire place, and while they playing “Closer” I looked up at the balcony to the left of the stage that must’ve been at least 50 meters up, and this girl with long blond hair was standing (out of her seat right against the railing) suddenly caught my attention. She was going wild! [-; Also, when I was looking down at the floor and saw one of the bouncers jump into the crowd to run after someone, and then grabbed a guy out of the crowd in a head lock and shoved him against the railing; this guy must’ve been a drunk yob or something b/c then four more bouncers dragged the guy, while he tried to protest, out of the arena. The best part was that two seconds later Kings on Leon then played “Four Kicks” and I laughed under my breath. It was a great night that was slightly dampened by having beer thrown on me three times by some git on the balcony above me: completely daft why someone would want to throw beer into the wheelchair area! But, I still really had an excellent time, and Kings on Leon are the best band whose gig I’ve gone to (that is considering they’re only the second gig I’ve gone to see in my life)… See photos shortly.
2 – On 12 December, Sarah and me went to see The Mighty Boosh Live at Wembley Arena. I really hated the layout Live at Wembley Arena b/c once we got there we found out that there was no assigned seating like at The O2, and upon arrival there were at least four wheelchairs in the “wheelchair cage” already; and we had to sit in the back of the “wheelchair cage” behind a brother and sister that both where in wheelchairs (both were at least 17) who strangely came with their parent. When we arrived the Mum then goes to the Dad, “Oh, it looks like we have to move…” looking at us. Funny, considering that they said they didn’t want come with their kids anyway; well, why did you? I felt like telling them please not to move on our account. Rude wankers! Nevertheless, I had a wicked time, and really enjoyed. I can’t tell you how blood hilarious it was! And 3 – On 13 December, for Saturday Family Night we watched “The Dark Knight” directed by Christopher Nolan, and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Morgan Freeman. Where do I start? Best film of 2008! Full Stop. *** FIVE STARS ***
All in all, that was the best weekend I’ve had in a very long time, actually that week was a really good one! What an amazing weekend, and hopefully I can continue to have more like it!
1 – On 11 December, Sarah and me went to go see the Kings on Leon at The O2 Arena. It was it so wicked, and they were totally the dog’s bollocks! They probably one of the only bands that sound exactly same live as they do on their albums, superb, which is a rare quality in bands today. KoL we so good, and they play all my fav song all their albums not just their latest one; I also like the wheelchair seating at The O2 Arena b/c we had a great view of the stage and the entire place, and while they playing “Closer” I looked up at the balcony to the left of the stage that must’ve been at least 50 meters up, and this girl with long blond hair was standing (out of her seat right against the railing) suddenly caught my attention. She was going wild! Day at Parliament
On 10 December, I went to parliament because the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign invited me for a special inquiry, as I am doing working experience with them (being a Trailblazer and all).
"Trailblazers joined MPs and Peers at the Houses of Parliament where an Inquiry into access to NHS specialist care for people living with rare conditions was launched today.
The Inquiry, being undertaken by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Muscular Dystrophy (APPG) will focus on access to specialist multi-disciplinary care; commissioning and funding; workforce planning and the role of care co-ordinators..."
This was a very interesting and informative panel discussion where the MPs questioned doctors/consultants who are working very hard to help people with neuromuscular conditions at top hospitals and organisations in the UK. At the end of the inquiry the MPs asked for written evidence relating to the topics discussed that have to be submitted by 3 February 2009, which hopefully I will be able to write up my evidence and send it back to the MP who is the chair of the APPG.
Afterwards in the evening my two carers and I left Parliament and walked to Westminster Bridge to look at the London Eye. As we were standing there Big Ben rang six times… It was brilliant!
Overall, the day was quite exciting and I cannot wait to help the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign further improve the conditions. Hopefully this can lead to something better…

My New Wheelchair
On 9 December, the wheelchair dealer and an excellent OT (the best I’ve ever had in my life, probably b/c she’s is an independent OT not NHS) came w/ a seating specialist to visit me, and brought a demo wheelchair/seating to try.
Words cannot express how elated I was to finally get the ball going in getting me a new wheelchair! The OT and the seating guy then set up the seating in the wheelchair for me to try, and it was amazing how support and stable they got me in the wheelchair w/ the seating… How brilliant it was, w/ the support I was sitting at least 12-inches tall, as currently (due to the severity of my Scoliosis) my spine collapses whenever I sit. Honestly, I’m really quite tall, despite what anyone thinks!
After then trying out the seating, we all decided that the wheelchair guy and seating guy would get quote for the wheelchair/seating, and then give it my PCT (Primary Care Trust) so they pass it to the “Special Equipment Panel” at the PCT; and then hopefully they’ll order it for me after all the bureaucratic procedures are out of the way. Once I have my final, actual wheelchair, I can try out seating for a good week or two, instead of trying it on a demo wheelchair for a couple of hours that doesn’t even have all the final features/gadgets.
The wheelchair is utterly the dog’s bollocks, and I cannot wait until I finally get it… Let’s hope the PCT orders my soon b/c I need to start living my life to the fullest!

Everybody Do The Robot…
Yesterday, for Saturday Family Night we watched Pixar’s computer-animated-science fiction-romance film ‘WALL-E’ that’s directed by Andrew Stanton, and stars Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, Fred Willard, John Ratzenberger, Kathy Najimy, and Sigourney Weaver.
The film is basically about a robot named WALL-E who is made to clean up a polluted Earth. He one day falls in love with another robot named EVE, and follows her on an adventure into outer space.
This is a bloody fantastic film, and in my opinion it’s probably the best animated films of 2008! Another Pixar success; a must see for all… *** FOUR 1/2 STARS ***

Trailblazers Training Days
On Thursday and Friday (4-5 December), I attended some training at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (MDC) HQ in Southwark, London for Trailblazers (a young persons campaigning network that part of MDC), where I’ve been doing some work experience. As a London Trailblazer, the MDC paid for a hotel for me on Thursday night since it would be easier b/c I had to be there quite early (the training was from 9.30-16.30 on Thursday and Friday) and I’d be closer to the MDC HQ office.
The Trailblazers Training was really enjoyable, and several people I met previously from the Microscope Ball in October and the MDC National Conference in September where there too that was quite nice.
On Thursday, the trainer was a lady (also a wheelchair user) from NCVO (The National Council for Voluntary Organisations) who taught us about Media Skills – Top Tip on Campaigning in the morning, and background on the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) / disability legislation and contacting the media/local authorities/MPs/etc. in afternoon after lunch. Then, on Friday a guy who was a director of his own communication company cam to teach us some hands on skills about Media Skills – Best way to be interviewed by radio/TV media with us all practicing our interview skills on a recorder in the morning, and after lunch in afternoon the PR Manager and Communications Team of MDC presented Website and Press Release Training, etc. – They showed us how to use our new Trailblazers’ website and how to write a Press Release to the media, et cetera. Also, both the guest trainers were really interesting and informative…
All in all, the Trailblazers Training Days opened my mind up a great deal to knowledge I fine quite exciting, and was very fun too… Just a brilliant time, indeed!

Kung Fu Fighting…
For Saturday Family Night, we watched ‘Kung Fu Panda’ that is an American animated comedy film directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne. The film stars the voices of Jack Black as the panda, Po, along with Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, David Cross, and Ian McShane.
Set ancient China, it’s basically about a clumsy panda who aspires to be a kung fu master. What a brilliantly funny family film this is! I really enjoyed this, and think it’s one of the best animated films of 2008… Very recommended… *** THREE 1/2 STARS***

Back to Narnia
For Saturday Family Night, on Saturday night Sarah bought the new Chronicles of Narnia film; The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is directed by Andrew Adamson, and stars Ben Barnes, William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Sergio Castellitto, Eddie Izzard (voice), Peter Dinklage, and Liam Neeson (voice). We’ve wanted to see this film for ages, and it was so definitely worth the wait…
This film was very entertaining, and as 23 year old I kept bursting out in laughter b/c it just has lots of fantastically humourous bits throughout the film. The lead characters had much more depth and were quite improved in their performance since the last Narnia film. Also, it had really good special effects, great locations, and wonderful plot that flowed excellently… Though, I think my favourite character in film is Eddie Izzard’s character, where he plays the voice of a sword-fighting mouse that is quite funny and feisty. Overall, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was a brilliant film that I enjoyed a great deal, and is definitely a must see for all, especially w/ the whole family! ***FOUR STARS***

Irish Blood, English Heart
Buggers! I just remembered that I forgot to tell you something. Late on Thursday night, on telly I watch ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ directed by Ken Loach, which starred Cillian Murphy, Padraic Delaney, Orla Fitzgerald, and Liam Cunningham. I have been waning to see this film for ages, and finally was able to on Thursday night.
It’s basically about the British occupation in Ireland, and is set in during the Irish War of Independence (1919–1921) and the Irish Civil War (1922–1923). Resulting in the development of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), and consequent fight for independence from Great Britain. Now I know how the IRA started and where the conflict in Northern Ireland began.
‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ is a brilliant film (though just a warning, it a bit gory) that I highly enjoyed… Raw, shocking, and emotional it is, but well worth watching! It shows what a bastard the British Empire was, and the horrors/youth of war. By the end of the fill, I was like ‘shite, oh no!’ That being said, everyone should watch this film b/c it has a solid plot, fantastic acting, and Cillian Murphy’s performance yet again has such great depth (Murphy is just a superb actor). Definitely, not surprising that is won the Palme d'Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. A must see… *** FOUR 1/2 STARS ***

Saturday Family Night
After a much a long break for unforeseen reasons, last night we rented ‘Iron Man’ directed by Jon Favreau (not Obama’s speechwriter or related to him in any way) and that stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, and Terrence Howard.
Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, it is very American, fast-paced, and action-packed film. It was quite enjoyable, though I found myself rolling my eyes a few times.
‘Iron Man’ was really funny w/ serious truths within it, but I’m glad it ended up heading in the more positive direction. I don’t know what else I can say, just that it’s brilliant and that you have to watch it for a high octane of a good 2 hours, 6 minutes, which is well entertaining! *** FOUR STARS ***
Also, Mum made marinated, grilled Mackerel, chips, Yorkshire Pudding, and apple strudel w/ custard for dessert. I cannot tell you enough how bloody good it was, and what a fab cook Mum is... It was so tasty!
I just hope we can startup Saturday Family Nights again, as last night was fantastic and I want to have at least one fun day a week w/ my family...

Uni Application
Guess what? I have now completed my Uni Application on UCAS , and just sent it off to the universities. HURRAH! Phew, I have much less stressed now that it is done...
Now I just have to get through the interviews... Additionally, the universities I have visited and the courses I am applying are as to follows (my final choice of what degrees I’m applying to for next September):
A) University for the Creative Arts (Formerly University College for the Creative Arts), Farnham to study Advertising and Brand Communication BA Honours Programme
B) University of East London to study Communication Studies and Creative & Professional Writing Combined BA Honours Programme
C) University College Falmouth to study English with Media Studies BA Honours Programme
And D) London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, to study Creative Advertising Strategy BA Honours Programme
Tell me what you think. I’m so bloody worried and anxious about the uni interviews and if a uni will accept me. Hope everything goes okay… Wish me luck!

A Day with Spike
Last night, Mum, Sarah, and me watched Cowboy Bebop: The Movie that is directed by Shinichirō Watanabe. Sarah got a while ago, and it was about the third time I’ve seen it, but I just have haven’t had a chance to tell you about it.
It’s basically a Japanese Anime set on Mars in the year 2071 about Spike Spiegel (a really wicked Bounty Hunter) who’s trying to stop a deadly virus from releasing, and get the 300 million woolong reward the government has issued for the man behind it. I am not doing justice, you just much watch it, and it’s based on the Cowboy Bebop telly series (that I’m definitely going to check out soon). It is one of the best Anime films out there (apart from legendary Hayao Miyazaki films), which has much better characters, plot, and depth than other Anime films. Very highly recommend! *** FOUR 1/2 STARS ***

UCA Open Day
Yesterday, as I couldn’t go the Open Day on the 25 October I went to the University for the Creative Arts at Farnham for an access visit. What an interesting day, indeed…
Upon arrival, I went to the reception when I met UCA’s Marketing Officer at the Farnham Campus, who I’d been in contact with. She then took me to a lecture room, where the course leader was waiting for me trying to set up the computer w/ the projector for the presentation. Once he finally got it working, he gave a presentation about the course and all the cool aspects about it. He was a typical Advertising speaker: fast talking, loud, frank, and entertaining. He gave a very good presentation that was really engrossing and enjoyable too, and Mum said she’d like to go there as well (I just smiled and nodded).
I then went on a campus tour w/ disability advisor, which was nice since the campus is unique in a woody area in Surrey about 1 1/2 hours away from my home. The disability advisor at point took me back his office, and I discussed what support I might need while at uni. After that, he then called the course leader b/c he wanted to speak further w/ me after I’d had the tour and all. When he came in, he was very frank w/ me: he said that he had some concerns, not b/c of my disability, but b/c of the amount of stress, rigor, and vigour involved during the course and all. Adding that he thought that I have to take all into account as this is mostly likely what the industry is going to be like. I agreed, and said it was nice for him to be so honest w/ me and explain, but said I that I think I’d be up to the challenge. In addition, looking at my work he also said was not enough to prove my entry into the course, and that I have to make a portfolio for the interview, as he needed to see that I had a ‘good enough creative mind.’ OMG! How am I going make portfolio by the middle of December? Hopefully, I’ll figure it out though.
Finally, by that time it was 4:30, so we said our goodbyes and made our home. Sadly, it took us 3+ hours instead of about a 1 1/2 to get home b/c we got stuck on the M25 (motorway, a highway for all of you in America), as it was rush hour, but thankfully we made it home safely.
Overall, it was cool b/c it was like they made a whole Open Day just for me, which was really nice. I also liked the campus and the course a great deal, and it's far enough from home to get some peace, but close enough to come home when I want and to be with easy access to my specialist hospitals in The City for emergencies. I just have get through the interview. Hoping for the best…

D.A.N.C.E.
Yesterday, something wicked happened in America… Obama got elected! Wow, I’m numb in wonderment… What else can I say?
Hurrah!!!!! Sadly, we’re struck w/ Brown, and mostly likely Cameron!
CONGRATS, Mr. Obama – President-Elect and please try to stop America being the new Roman Empire. Good luck, I hope you can fight for the good in this world, and I pray you are able to keep good on word:

Bond Review
On Saturday we went to see the new James Bond film, and finally have chance to give you my review.
‘Quantum of Solace’ is directed by Marc Forster and stars Daniel Craig as James Bond; also starring Mathieu Amalric, Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arterton, Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright, and Giancarlo Giannini. All in all, I enjoyed the film:
- It was filled w/ action galore throughout
- Locations were cool
- Plot was very good and flowed quite well, much better than ‘Casino Royale’
- Bond Woman was the best one yet, not being a useless bimbo like the others who were all like, ‘Oh James! Take me…’ w/o any question. Though, the Bond Women in this film was brilliant: not only is she bloody hot, but also she kicks some major ARSE!
- And more…
However, there are several things that made ‘Quantum of Solace’ quite disappointing and are as follows:
- I hate Daniel Craig as James Bond: He is not suave the way Bond should be, and sucks all the charm and charisma out of everything. I loved the way Roger Moore portrayed James Bond (my favourite Bond yet), and I think since him the quality of portrayal of Bond has gone down the loo.
- No cool gadgets
- No Q for another Bond film, who I really miss
- Not really any wicked cars, other than for about ten minutes in the first scene
- And more…
Overall, I felt quite disappointed at end of the film, and I felt like I really wanted more depth from it. But, do check ‘Quantum of Solace’ out for yourselves; very much recommended for high action, quite the dog’s bollocks of a time! ***THREE STARS***

UCA Open Day
Since I couldn't go to the Open Day at University for The Creative Arts, FARNHAM (UCA) on Saturday, I today rescheduled a meeting w/ them on 6 November to find out more. Interested and excited to see what UCA is like! Will keep you all posted.

Be Kind and Rewind
As going to the Open Day at University for The Creative Arts, FARNHAM (UCA) didn't work out today, earlier we watched 'Be Kind Rewind' directed by Michel Gondry, and starring Jack Black, Mos Def, Melonie Diaz, Danny Glover, and Mia Farrow, which I rented from Blockbuster.
I really enjoyed this film, and it is quite funny; and a good family film. Michel Gondry films are always so inspiring, like this film, and make you really want to do something creative!
Highly recommended! ***FOUR STARS***

Uni Open Day
Sorry, just a heads up: This post might be a bit long, but I’ve got lots to tell you, so please bear w/ me and read on…
As you know I already visited Cambridge, UEL, and LCC for access visits, since I’m applying to start university (uni) for next September. However, the Cambridge thing didn’t work out b/c I only visited there on 7 October and I only had about a week to get my application in for the Cambridge deadline (as Cambridge/Oxford deadline was on 15 October instead of 15 January), and I thought there was no point in me killing myself to get it in, despite me most likely being accepted there w/ all my experience according to lady I met at Cambridge; but, people prepare for 3-4 years to get into Cambridge/Oxford and I have only been working on it for about two months. Therefore, I decided not to apply to Cambridge at this time and take that pressure off myself, and I suppose I can always get my Master’s Degree at Cambridge if I wanted; also, I thought hard that I know I would enjoy studying at Cambridge, but the majority of study is quite theoretical, and I just want to do more creative things during studying a degree. So, including UEL and LCC I decided to apply to two additional universities that are: University College Falmouth and University for The Creative Arts, FARNHAM; and attend their Open Days too (24 October - University College Falmouth, and 25 October - University for The Creative Arts, FARNHAM).
Anyway, yesterday I attended the Open Day for University College Falmouth at the Tremough Campus, and is over 5 1/2+ hours away from London since it’s right on the most southwestern tip of the England. As it is so far away I decided to drive (w/ Mum and my two carers) there on Thursday afternoon and stay night in a B&B to attend the Open Day the next morning, and drive back afterwards on Friday evening, which was definitely a good idea.
About the Open Day: We left the B&B on Friday morning around 10:45, and arrived at University College Falmouth (UCF), Tremough Campus, around 11:30 after filling up the tank. Upon arrival I walked (well drove) over to the registration table and handed in my registration letter to one of the volunteers in the yellow hoodies behind registration table. At that point, one of yellow hooded volunteers introduced himself as Alfie Jones, and said he’d be the one showing me around the show me around the university. Once we’d got everything sorted, we first went to the Welcome Presentation that was from 12:00-12:30; it was quite interesting to learn about the unique fact of UCF.
When the presentation, Alfie took us on a campus tour: to check out the accommodation, the Design Centre, the Photography Studio, the IT Lab, the Bar, and much more throughout the campus; and while taking a look around I was having a good chat w/ Alfie. Alfie is just a really cool, nice guy: I found out he’s my age, and he told me that he’s a 3rd year student (Bachelor’s Degrees are only 3 years in UK) in the same course I’m considering and he likes the same type music that I do too (and a huge Muse fan). The last place we visited before the Course Presentation started was the Library, and that was the funniest moment w/ Alfie. As we entered the Library, Mum decided to sit on bench outside b/c she wanted to rest a bit from walking, so Alfie took me inside to look around. We had a look at books, and he took me to the back of the Library to check out the computer, where he asked me what my favourite film was. I said ‘Lord of The Rings’, of course. He then looked it up on the computer, walked over to an aisle (as I followed) to find the DVD of it, and taking it out to show me. Alfie then said the Library at UCF also has DVDs for student to loan, not only the academic stuff but new releases too, which I thought was cool. I then started to reverse out of the aisle, and one of my carers that was behind me pointed to a DVD on the self in the aisle that caught his attention and read the title. The title was: ‘Shaving Ryan's Privates.’ I froze, and looked up at Alfie w/ a cheeky sparkle in my eye. Alfie then had to take it and read it; the DVD said: ‘Shaving Ryan's Privates – A documentary looking at the history of porn films...’ We all burst out laughing: it was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a quite long time! My carer said he thought it might’ve been a typo for ‘Saving Private Ryan’, but then realised it wasn’t. Well, I suppose it quite good that students have their own adult section in the Library at the uni, and it’s interesting to know if I go there. Just glad Mum wasn’t there at the time…
After we left the Library, Alfie took us to the main building for the Course Presentation for the English with Media Studies I’m interested in at UCF, which was from 14:30-15:30. Nigel, the English Course Leader, gave the presentation. It was a really interesting presentation, and Nigel was a really interesting presenter! He was just a very engaging speaker who challenged and inspired the way you think. After his presentation, I met w/ the disability advisor to discuss services I might require at uni for about 20 minutes. Once we got done, I said bye to Alfie and said thank you for showing me around UCF and everything, and Mum just had to give him a hug, women; and we left UCF at 16:00 to drive back to London…
Overall, I really enjoyed the Open Day, and it was just a lovely experience! The experience was made more brilliant after hearing the presentation that Nigel gave, but my day was especially brilliant at Falmouth since I spent the day with (and was shown around the campus by) Alfie, who is just a very wicked person. CHEERS ALFIE!

* Brilliant campus/uni that's was only built about 3 years ago
* Lots of EU funding
* Fantastic course/tutors w/ many unique learning experiences
* Superb, peaceful place to let all your creativity flow so freely
* Wonderful community feel w/ great learning support, where everyone knows each other
* And much more...
What do you think? There's many things I have to think very hard about studying at UCF, and have to consider many issues I will face, mainly the distance, but also my medical/health needs. Though, I'm hoping for best.

The Greatest Ball Ever! Literally...

We were invited to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign's Microscope Ball , as we’re of Trailblazers (young people’s MD advocacy group) and live in London. I rent a dinner suit (tux for all my American friends) and Sarah bought a flapper style strappy dress covered in swingy threads.
I thought all the ladies looked amazing, and the hotel was fantastic! I really enjoyed myself, especially meeting ALL the wicked people... It was just BRILLIANT!
Only wish I could do it all over again! Stay tuned for fab photos…

Cambridge
Yesterday, I went to Cambridge to see the University of Cambridge for an access visit. I thought it was such a unique place of history with such a magical aura about the place… And I’ve never seen so many people using bikes in my life!
I visited St Catherine’s College, Selwyn College, King’s College, and Pembrooke College, which are all part of the University of Cambridge in a collegiate system.
I really enjoyed it there, it was so beautiful, and each college was so varied in landscape. I loved King’s; it has the most amazing architecture and Chapel that is massive.
Overall, it was a very insightful trip. Now I have some difficult decisions to make about which college to choose and work on getting my applications by next Wednesday. Let’s see what happens…
